The main constraint today, for the complete replacement of petroleum-derived plastics in the attempt to utilize new technologies, requires high production costs.
The main restriction currently, for the complete replacement of petroleum-derived plastics in the attempt to use new technologies, requires high production costs. The strong drive for the use of bioplastics has been driven by environmental regulations, and at Quillagua Foundation we are aware that sustainability and environmental care are paramount. Our flagship Biopolymers project is based on using cutting-edge technology for its development.
The Biopolymers project is a work that has been conducting for over 4 years of research and development, experimenting with sugar beet as a plant-based raw material. It is 100 percent degradable and will help with conservation, as well as reduce pollution of environmental resources, thanks to its planet-friendly components.
The project is being developed in the VII Region of Chile and was obtained thanks to the optimal qualities that the region presents for the application of this effective and very low-cost technology.
The Quillagua Foundation's Biopolymers project will have a dual social impact, as it will integrate more than 50 thousand families who were left unemployed due to the closure of the sugar company in the region and will also have a direct impact on the care and protection of the environment.
At Quillagua Foundation, we want to set an example in the use of natural resources, operating in the most sustainable way possible, recycling all waste in the production process, and using our own electrical energy.
